“Ekaur Bihari” which means one more Bihari. Bihar is the most struggling state in India in terms of education, employment, and many other things. But migration is the biggest issue of this state. Many brilliant minds are not able to find a growing environment in their place and forced to work in other state. Not just brilliant minds, but also many people working as laborers in factories, hotels, etc. lack of employment is a major concern of this State.
But Cricket is another relation with Bihar. The world has seen the greatest fan of cricket in Bihar. He is Sudhir Kumar, from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. This district is famous all over the world for a very tasty and yummy seasonal fruit” Lichi” but no one would have ever thought that a man from this small place would become an international fan of great legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
Sudhir kumar is a very average-looking guy with normal aspirations one would have in life as it appeared from the first look. The first time when I saw him in the stand, it was just another fan cheering for a team. Next time, perhaps it was just coincidence, oh, same guy. But very soon it became a habit. Being a fan of Sachin Tendulkar, it was just amazing to see someone going to that level.
Sudhir belongs to a very poor family in a semi-rural place in Muzaffarpur. He left his schooling at the age of 14 years and tried his hand at so many things to find a better way of survival. But very soon he realized that fate had already chosen something for him.
He started watching cricket matches and followed team India all over the world. He dedicated his life to cricket. In an interview, he very clearly, accepted that he did not want to spoil a girl’s life by marrying her. According to him, watching cricket is his passion and he can not do anything else in life. He does not take calls from his sister or mother not even in “Raksha Bandhan”. Even when he goes to his home, he keeps his distance from his father.
Yes, he is not an ideal son. He is not an ideal brother. He does not want to be a family man. Why, because he is the superfan. He has dreamt of nothing else other than supporting Team India. When Sachin was playing, he used to paint Sachin’s name on his body. Once Sachin retired, he started painting “Miss U Sachin” on his body with the same affection.
Being Sudhir kumar is not an easy task. He has paid dearly for it. Once he was attacked by some Bangladeshi fans in Mirpur just because he was supporting India. Once he was thrashed by the police when he tried to enter the playground just to touch Sachin’s feet. Once a ticket collector caught him on a train traveling without a ticket. he was freed later but realized that he was spoiling Sachin’s name only by doing such illegal things.
He stopped doing such activities but one thing he never stopped. He never stopped supporting India and cheering Sachin Tendulkar even when Sachin was not playing on the ground. He is not a regular cricket fan. He is not a cricket fan who just watches cricket. He is the one who celebrates every match. He lives every match in his heart. He is not just a true fan of cricket but he is the superfan of cricket.
